Tier 4 of Extended Benefits Ending

Indiana no longer qualifies for the fourth tier of the federal extended benefits program due to the state’s lower unemployment rate.  Tier 4 is the last six weeks of the possible 79 weeks of benefits. Hoosiers will be unable to file a new claim for tier four beginning Sunday, May 13, 2012. Individuals currently receiving tier 4 benefits will be able to finish any remaining weeks on their claim. Click here for more information.

New Requirements to Receive Benefits
Unemployed Hoosiers who are finishing their first 26 weeks of regular state unemployment insurance and moving to federally funded extended benefits are now required to go to WorkOne for an in-person review of their work search records. The new in-person review is part of the federal law Congress passed in February reauthorizing the federally funded extended benefits through the end of the year. Reviews will also be required for those transitioning from the first round of federal benefits to the second if they have not previously participated. Hoosiers who are required to visit a WorkOne will begin receiving notices in April. Anyone who fails to comply risks losing their unemployment insurance benefits. Click here for additional information.
